The Captain Howey is now closed for business.

The Davis family would like to thank all the customers that have supported over the last 15 years and wish you all good health and luck for the future.

Situated between the Historic Cinque Port Town of New Romney and the sea, opposite the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway station of New Romney.

We offer our guests a fantastic stay with good value accommodation, on site parking a a delicious breakfast.

The Captain Howey is a family run B&B, being run by the Davis family for the past 11 years. They took it on after it had been shut for quite a while due to management problems. They invested quite heavily in the property creating all the bedrooms, making them all en-suite, some nice furniture, nice flat TVs and most of all, making the rooms clean and welcoming. Unfortunately, like the Forth Bridge, as soon as the decorating is finished, it has to start again, although I must say we have been very lucky with our clientele who seem to respect their surroundings.

We are always trying to make life easier for our customers. We are at the moment in the middle of creating our family suite, which will enable family’s to spend their visit together. It will also give them the opportunity of making a late night snack in the kitchen area, or watching tv or a dvd together in the lounge area. This will be ready by May 2019. Those of you who have stayed with us before will know that the breakfasts are served cooked fresh and enough to keep you going for the day. The full breakfast consisting of cereal to start followed by egg, bacon, sausage, grilled/fried tomato, mushrooms, hash browns, baked beans and toast. If this is not to your taste please ask and hopefully we will be able to produce something that you will like. Whether you’re in the area to work or for enjoyment you’ll always find someone to talk to in our bar before dining or retiring to your room.

So give The Captain Howey B&B a try; a warm room and a friendly atmosphere will hopefully make you want to come back and stay with us again.

Only went into the bar for a pint and I must say the bar area was nice and clean with a very nice polite barman. The locals all spoke to me and seemed very friendly. It was a very good experience will certainly use this pub/hotel again.

Had a wonderful stay here. Would definitely recommend and come back again. The room was clean and in a very good condition. I slept well and the breakfast next morning was amazing. I am a vegetarian, and they made me special breakfast. All the staff, especially John was very friendly.

Having now stayed at the Captain Howey Hotel restaurant and bar for over 5 weeks due to working in the local area.I must commend John and Chris and their amazing staff on a homely and enjoyable stay, I normally stay in travel lodges but this was a blessing in disguise being only less than a mile from my place of work which was nothing more than so easy. The hospitality is second to none nothing is to much trouble at all. The rooms are clean and tidy and to a high standard and the home cooked food is incredible. I have eaten well every night the mixed grill and Sunday roast carvery are excellent as is the salmon and minted lamb . The mixed grill has to be one of the best I have ever eaten. I also had a cooked breakfast at a time convenient to myself daily which was at 0700 hrs again this was no problem at all and as I mentioned before you will go a long way to beat this establishment. Thank you so much and well done. Hope to see you all in the future.
